cosmetic surgery proceduresFigures released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) revealed that 2015 saw a significant rise in cosmetic surgery procedures from the previous year – a 12.6% rise in fact. For the first time, the total exceeded the 50,000 mark, and more than 4,600 of these were for men. So what are the most popular procedures?
  1. Breast augmentation consistently occupies the top spot. In 2015 a record 9,642 ‘boob jobs’ were performed in the UK, an increase in line with cosmetic surgery as a whole. A relatively straightforward procedure with predictably attractive results, it is little wonder that breast augmentations are enduringly popular. It is, however, a highly individualized procedure; at his Cambridge breast augmentation clinic, Mr Tariq Ahmad will first listen to your objectives and then tailor a bespoke surgical plan.
  2. Blepharoplasty accounts for 17% of cosmetic surgical procedures for women and 21% of those for men – and is the most popular type of cosmetic surgery men choose. Drooping eyelids and bags under the eye can be very ageing. Eyelid surgery repairs the sag by removing the surplus skin and protruding fat, giving a smoother, more youthful line to the eyes.
  3. Face and neck lifts were up by 16% among women and 14% among men in 2015. Facial rejuvenation techniques are ever evolving and more people are using this to counteract the ageing combination of looser skin, loss of muscle condition and the forces of gravity. Mr Ahmad offers the full range of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments at his Cambridge clinic.
  4. Breast reduction features at the top end of both the male and female cosmetic surgery chart. While women with overly large breasts may seek surgery to alleviate associated back and neck pain, both men and women are likely to be motivated by the effect their breasts have on their self-confidence.
